With Gemini in Google Docs, you can brainstorm, draft, and refine documents using voice commands. Google Docs with Gemini integrates context from your Google Drive, Gmail, Chat, and the web to help you create content efficiently on the go.

Create, draft, refine and format documents in Google Docs on Android with voice commands.
Generate a document
- On your Android device, open the Google Docs app

- On the bottom right, tap
, then tap Create with voice
- Speak to Google Docs and describe your document.
- For example: “create a draft for Q3 social media campaign based on my chat with Rebecca” .
- Optional: You can add files from Google Drive, Gmail, Google Chat, or the web as reference for your new content. Learn how to reference other files to create content.
- Gemini in Docs generates an initial plan from your spoken prompts. You can ask Gemini to make changes to the plan. For example, "Don't include the competitor analysis”, “Add a section for ingredient substitution”.
- Once the plan looks good to you, to create a draft, tap Next or say “Show me the draft”.
- Optional: To keep editing the draft, ask Gemini to make changes. You can add, remove, edit sections, and structure content. For example: "Bold all the headings”.
- To generate the document and finish creating with your voice, tap Done.
Manage source settings
You can ask Gemini to use specific files to write, edit, or refine content. For example, "Update the project timeline based on the latest updates from our team’s meeting notes doc."
- At the bottom, tap source settings

- Select "Add from Drive" or other location.
